RE-ENDOLLATS. The invisible destiny of our technology

The documentary “RE-ENDOLLATS. The Invisible Destiny of Our Technology” has just been released, shedding light on the real journey of electronic waste and the urgent need to rethink how we produce, consume, and dispose of our devices. The film features Àlex Jiménez, director of Nutcreatives, who contributes a key perspective: environmental and social impacts must be anticipated from the design phase. As he points out in the documentary, neither the best waste-management system nor the most conscious user —aware of repairability and recyclability— can solve the problems caused by poorly designed products built with materials that are impossible to recycle or repair, or conceived under models of planned obsolescence.

The European Parliament approves the new Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation

The environmental impact of packaging is a well-known problem that demands urgent measures and new ways of designing, producing, and consuming. According to the European Environment Agency, the volume of packaging waste in EU Member States increased by 15% between 2013 and 2020, reaching nearly 80 million tonnes. Currently, it is estimated that around 64% of this waste is recycled, according to official data , although recycling rates vary significantly by material type.

Technologies 4.0 to extend the useful life of rugs and reduce the environmental impact of the sector

The LONG LIFE TEXTILES is a research project that focus on designing, developing and prototyping a model to extend the useful life of rugs and enable their recovery at the end of their life. By applying Industry 4.0 technologies, the project tackled key causes of low recyclability —notably the lack of data and transparency across the value chain.
